With a combined total of over 37 years experience of producing high quality, audience targeted interpretation, Osis Design is able to offer either specific services or a complete one-stop offering.
Project management
We have extensive experience of leading and managing projects from ‘brownfield site’ through to concept definition, research, design, production, and installation. We believe in careful planning, clear targets and regular, self- imposed assessments to ensure that targets are met on schedule and within budget. We pride ourselves on having good communication skills and work well with people from all backgrounds. Many of our clients have commissioned us to work for them over a long period of time.
Research
We have academic backgrounds and thrive on researching new projects. We firmly believe that designers must fully understand the stories they interpret, as only then can they distil the salient points appropriate to each target audience. We have a proven track record of researching and interpreting, geological, ecological and historical topics. What we don’t know, we will find out!
Preparing Heritage Lottery Fund bids
We have over two years experience of working on a large Landscape Partnership HLF bid, representing a government agency as elected member of the bid’s Officers Working Group.
Targeting audiences
We have experience of designing and producing interpretation for a wide range of audiences from life-long learning, to all ages of formal education, including academics, where work has been tailored to meet curriculum requirements. We also have experience identifying target audiences through market research.
Design
We undertake design for all media, from outdoor interpretation panels to digital and interactive media. Our design process is integral to everything we do, ensuring that the message is conveyed in the most visually appropriate and effective manner possible, as well as creating visual consistency within the project’s overall identity. Issues such as target audience and presentation media are considered from the outset in order that our design solutions are relevant to the brief and work.
Audio Visual production
We produce animations and audio-visual presentations in-house, as well as working closely with specialist partners. We can research, script, storyboard, shoot and edit; outputting to any required format or platform (for example re-purposing footage for associated websites etc.)
Web sites and dynamic media
We have been involved in web design and production from the outset, producing sites for a huge variety of organisations, from educational bodies to corporate enterprises. Our experience of usability and information architecture helps ensure that our sites are engaging and easy to navigate. We can advise on and produce web-based media which is incorporated within site specific displays, therefore allowing dynamic and client managed content to be used. We can evaluate and improve a site’s visibility and performance on the internet through search engine optimisation and other methods.
Interactive presentations and DVD-ROM production
We can design, program and install a range of interactive media, from elaborate touchscreen applications to simpler point and click interfaces, incorporating everything from custom animation to existing assets. We consider siting and target audience are prime design considerations for installed presentations and will consult on the best solution for the brief. We are experienced in producing DVD-ROM presentations for display and retail.
Professional photography
We have over 25 years experience of professional photography using a range of both digital SLRs and medium format film cameras. We have taken the photographs for most of our interpretation work showing particular expertise in macro and landscape photography.
Publications
We have extensive experience of identifying stories that work well as a publication. We have developed concepts, researched, written, illustrated, photographed, designed and produced publications for different audiences, including schools, with many achieving excellent sales.
Illustration and artwork
We have the skills and experience to produce a wide range illustrations and artwork in a variety of mediums which we have used throughout our interpretation material. We also work with other illustrators and artists when their styles are more appropriate. Having worked ourselves in this field we know exactly the kind of brief that an artist needs.
Financial management
We have experience of managing budgets in excess of £100,000 and understand the need to work to tight financial controls that are constantly updated.
